Feeling Grateful

This morning I opened an email from a client of mine which reminded me how grateful I am to be able to do this work.  I'm extremely fortunate to be able to work with such brilliant people and witness their transformation as they step into their biggest and best self.  It is a real honour to be alongside you as you consciously step into your most vulnerable place for the sake of your own personal growth.  So thank you.

Thank you so much for today. It was so good coming to seeing you again.

Thinking of myself sitting there confident, happy and full of energy, I just wanted to drop you a note to say how much I appreciate everything you have done for me.

You are forever saying lovely things about me and I just wanted to let you know that I am very grateful to you, your super coaching and your warm and honest style, for helping me find the light.

I am really looking forward to working together again!

Are you suffering from High Functioning Anxiety?

If these symptoms sound familiar, you are not alone. The Mental Health Organisation estimates there were 8.2million cases of severe anxiety in the UK in 2013, with women more than twice as likely to suffer as men.  

There are several things you can do to start overcoming feelings of anxiety, fear or panic.

• Eat Well - eat a balanced diet rich in vegetables, complex carbs and good protein, whilst limiting sugars and simple carbs (think white stuff, bread, cakes, cookies, etc). This will help balance your blood sugar which will leave you less prone to slumps in energy and mood.
• Practice relaxation - this can be in the form of exercise (yoga, tai chi), meditation, having a massage or simply breathing and getting in touch with your body to notice whereabouts you are physically holding the stress, and let it go
• Reduce caffeine and alcohol intake - even though these sometimes seem like a go to option, they both actually increase anxiety and disrupt hormones, leaving you vulnerable to energy and mood slumps
• Exercise - not only can exercise take your mind off your worries, it also releases endorphins in the body which increase feelings of wellbeing
• Face your fears - if you have an aversion to doing something, if possible try to find a way to do it anyway. That might sound glib, but by doing this you are avoiding creating a pattern where your anxiety can grow. Very often things will turn out to be not nearly as bad as you expected.

As I began to love myself I quit stealing my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, things I love to do and that make my heart cheer, and I do them in my own way and in my own rhythm. Today I call it “SIMPLICITY”.

As I began to love myself I freed myself of anything that is no good for my health – food, people, things, situations, and everything that drew me down and away from myself. At first I called this attitude a healthy egoism. Today I know it is “LOVE OF ONESELF”.

As I began to love myself I quit trying to always be right, and ever since I was wrong less of the time. Today I discovered that is “MODESTY”.

As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worrying about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where everything is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”.”

How to make Moaning work for you

Every one of us experiences anger, resentment, anxiety or fear and it's good to get those negative feelings out so sometimes complaining helps us feel better.

And sometimes it helps keep us exactly where we are as we tell, and retell, the story in exactly the same way. It keeps us miserable.

If you want moaning to work positively for you try this. Ask yourself one question.

Why has this happened? 
 

Trace it back. Once you become inquisitive about the situation you are in, once you ask questions about how you got there, then you can begin to see how that 'same old' pattern can be changed.  If you'd like to know more about the science of positive complaining, read this helpful article by Jessica Stillman The one type of complaining that you will make you feel better, according to Science.
